SVP, Head of Group Financial Reporting, Diversified Banking Group

Our client is an expanding Banking Group with solid business performance across its full range business services in Asia (Retail Banking, Private Banking, Corporate & Institutional Banking, Securities / Brokerage). As part of strategic growth, an excellent leadership opportunity has arisen for a Finance professional to lead the function in Group Financial Reporting, based in Hong Kong.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

• Report to and support the Hong Kong CFO in managing a sizeable Group Financial Reporting team.
• Provide oversight and ownership of Group reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate submissions for month-end closing, annual and interim statutory reporting and management reporting.
• Define financial reporting treatment and requirements, drive execution of reporting change initiatives, new regulatory / group requests, enhancement of reporting platforms, strategic data sourcing, implementation of consistent change management and governance processes, implementation of strategic initiatives.
• Advise and assist on financial accounting matters to the wider bank, branches and subsidiaries.
• Ensure data integrity and quality, adherence to internal controls and policies, ensure proper control checking, review and reconciliation procedures are in place.
• Review and prepare any ad-hoc and regular financial analysis reports, board meeting materials, shareholders reports and regulatory requests.
• Ensure proper reconciliation of inter-company accounts, identify and investigate any material discrepancies.
• Team development and management of resources across the organization to maximize effectiveness of the team.
• Take a lead in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of reporting process.
• Present key results to senior management when required.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

• University degree with professional accounting qualification.
• Minimum 12+ years relevant experience in group reporting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, financial control, finance process transformation.
• At least 3 years of team management experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Hong Kong Accounting standards.
• Industry experience from Banking is a must, ideally from banks with diversified banking activities across Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Institutional Banking and / or Private Bankingor at Group / Head Office level.
• Experience in process improvement and system implementation work.
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and Cantonese, additional Mandarin skills would be advantageous.
